What Private Life Insurer sell are not pension at all

IRDA has taken a great step towards redefining pension products... Good News for Investors because Most of the Private Life Insurer sell is not at all a pension product.. its simply Unit Linked Product without Risk Cover, so that it is easy to sell, Lesser time to issue a policy, and reasonably good commission..

Some of the features of the Current Pension Schemes are...???
  • The Maturity Amount is TAXABLE in the hand of Investor (only 1/3rd is tax free)
  • Compulsory Pension (Pension amount will be treated as an Income in the hand of Investor and taxed accordingly)
  • Despite of being a product for pension,  no guarantee, High Surrender Charges, and for few companies, No surrender possibilities before the age of 45.

Global Meltdown 1929 Repeated

Stock Market is at all time low and everyone is discussing about Global Meltdown and its all possible effects on Indian economy and Indian Investors. Fear has taken toll over Greed and now everyone is worried with one Common Question – What’s NEXT?

Stock Market is always acting as a barometer of any Economy. Current level of stock market has pushed us to the year 2006 where Sensex was at the level of 10,000. It took 28 years for Sensex to reach at the level of 12000 in year 2007 and Sensex took only one year to reach at the level of 21000 from 12000. What happened during 2007 to 2008? Was it over optimism? The current downfall of Sensex is attributed by unprofessional practice and misjudgments of so called Master Brains. Analysts say that the current global meltdown is similar to Great Depression of 1929. Let’s look at great depression and check its similarity with current slowdown.

World war in any case is root cause of any development or devastation of economy. The freeing of capital from government to use to commercial use following World War 1, caused commodity price to inflate. In 1920, Ben Strong of the US Federal Reserve Bank of New York raised interest rates sharply to prevent inflation. This caused a recession and the stock market to fall. Once hard assets like commodities and real estate were no longer rising in price, money began to pour into stocks and bonds. The Dow started climbing from its low at 63.90 in 1921 and rose 150% over the four years to 1925.

To travel from 10,000 level in Feb 06 to 21,000 level in Jan 08, the Sensex took 482 trading sessions and over Rs 1,00,000 Crore of FII Money.  The return journey took just 193 sessions and over Rs 50,000 Crore in FII Sales.  This largely happened due to financial and liquidity crisis in USA.  Current Downfall of Market has paused a big question to Investor – “Can we make Money in Equity Market?” Before knowing how one can make money through equity market one must look at some of the basics of equity market.

Insurance e-repository for policies expected to be online in next 2 months

Irda has licensed five repositories, including National Securities Depository, Central Securities Depository, Stock Holding India, CAMS and Karvy, to manage policies in e-insurance policies in line with Sebi's securities depositories. Insurance repositories will hold all types of policies issued by life insurance, health insurance and general insurance companies will be covered including life, pension, health, motor and group covers in the electronic form, including the history of transactions during the term of policy. The insurance repository will provide policyholders a facility to keep all their insurance policies in electronic form in one account and to undertake changes, modifications and revisions in the insurance policy. IRDA has asked repositories to maintain arms lengths with distribution businesses. Karvy and Stock Holding Corporation will have to hive off their insurance distribution businesses.

Key Highlights: - Once a customer opens an account with a Repository, he/she can purchase subsequent policies from any insurance company without submitting KYC documents (Know your customer documents, ID & Address proofs) again. - Customers will need to open an e‐insurance account with insurance repositories for keeping insurance policies in electronic form. Accounts may be opened by a person who has insurance policies on his own or who proposes to take insurance policies - The documents required to open a Repository Account are an Application form & KYC norms (ID Proof, Address Proof) - Insurance companies will not charge the customer for issuing e-policies. Customers will need to pay charges for the account levied by the Repository The repositories will be operational in the next few weeks and thereafter account opening will start. We will inform you about the same once the process starts
